What should I wear?
Be comfortable. The most important thing is to feel good in what you’re wearing. Your attire choices should accurately reflect you. If you don’t typically pile on layers and accessories, then you probably shouldn’t be photographed that way. Don’t be afraid to play with color and textures. I’m always open to helping my clients with ‘what to wear’ questions so please don’t hesitate to contact me before your shoot for advice.
Families & Engagement/Couple Sessions: You don’t have to be matchy-matchy. Shades that compliment each other, but are not identical, look best. Neutrals look stunning with navy blue, gray and cream. Throw in a fun pop of bold color with an accessory or complimentary piece. Avoid logos and bold distracting prints.
Senior Sessions: Senior sessions are fun & can carry endless creativity. For girls, something classy and something fun are a must. Bring on the accessories–scarves, necklaces, shoes and fun props. I recommend the guys to stick to dark jeans, button downs, polos and other dressier styles. I am a huge fan of props & love when clients are brave an bring them to sessions.
Just for kids (big & little): Think color. Neutrals also work when paired with fun colors. Bust out the bows, hats, leg warmers, bloomers and adorable props. Avoid logos & clothing with cartoons on them. Shoes are so fun as is barefoot. I highly recommend making sure your little guys & gals are well rested, fed & hydrated before sessions.
Maternity Sessions: Take care of yourself before your session. Make sure you are rested and hydrated. Working for two is exhausting and I want to be sure you are at your best! Treat yourself to a manicure as your hands will be photographed over your sweet belly bump. Tight fitting tops & dresses that are belted at your midriff are great for showing off your bump. Sheer tops are fun for letting the light shine through your shirt to show off your soon-to-be-mama figure. I usually silhouette these types of shots. Try to find a pair of great jeans that you feel comfortable in.
Newborn/Baby Sessions: You know your baby best. I will work with you to meet your baby’s schedule. Sleeping photos are best during full-bellied naps. I try to schedule these sessions within the first two weeks of the little guy/gals life. If you are looking for some bare bum shots, hike up the temperature in the room we will be shooting in. Baby accessories like diaper covers, hats & props are encouraged.
