“My heart was set on a wedding in Italy from the beginning… Italy has always been a magical place to me and a special part of who I am. Also, they have the best food and wine in the world—what better place to have a wedding?”
-Justine, Bride, Over The Moon
There are few places in the world that embody romance quite like Ravello. Perched high above the Amalfi Coast, this historic town feels suspended between sea and sky. When paired with couture fashion, thoughtful design, and unforgettable guest experiences, Ravello becomes more than a destination — it becomes part of the love story itself. I had the honor of photographing this Villa Eva wedding, planned and designed by Rebecca Rose Events, which has since been published on Over The Moon.

A romantic Amalfi Coast destination wedding in Ravello, Italy, photographed by Jillian Knight. The couple celebrated at Villa Eva with late-night Neapolitan pizza, limoncello, and views overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
A Wedding Rooted in Heritage and Couture
From the very beginning, Italy was more than just a backdrop for this couple’s celebration. The bride’s family heritage drew her to the Amalfi Coast, and with it came a desire to reflect culture, fashion, and joy in every detail. She chose a Monique Lhuillier gown paired with a Galia Lahav veil, finishing her look with blue Manolo Blahnik heels. A hand-sewn lace collar added a unique couture element, transforming the ensemble into something deeply personal and iconic. The groom honored the bride’s late father by wearing Ralph Lauren, a detail made possible with the help of a longtime family friend from the fashion house. These choices were more than style statements — they were tributes to love, memory, and individuality.

Villa Eva: A Ravello Venue Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea
Villa Eva offered a setting unlike any other. Surrounded by gardens and perched high above the Tyrrhenian Sea, the venue gave way to sweeping views that became a living canvas for the wedding day. The ceremony unfolded against a cliffside horizon, accompanied by music from Wedding Music Napoli. After portraits in the gardens and terraces, guests gathered for an alfresco dinner where every detail had been carefully considered.
Vibrant Tablescapes and Italian Inspiration
The design story, led by Rebecca Rose Events, blended vibrant color with layers of texture. Custom block-print napkins from Nuage Designs were tied with velvet ribbons and adorned with guest names, while acrylic menus added a modern counterpoint to the timeless setting. Cherry-red chairs brought unexpected vibrancy, contrasting beautifully with the surrounding lemon grove that framed the bride and groom’s table. As the sun set over Ravello, guests dined on pumpkin ravioli with goat cheese fondue and sea bass baked in a salt crust, followed by dancing under the stars.

A Weekend of Guest Experiences
Luxury destination weddings today extend beyond the wedding day itself, creating unforgettable experiences for every guest. This celebration began with a welcome party featuring the Scialapopolo Capri Folk Band, whose lively music set the tone for the weekend. Guests also enjoyed a mozzarella-making class at a local cheese factory, giving them the chance to connect with Italian culture firsthand. And when the formal reception concluded, the evening seamlessly shifted into a lively after-party with espresso martinis, limoncello, and late-night Neapolitan pizza — moments that kept even the bride’s 91-year-old grandmother dancing until 2:30 a.m.
Published on Over The Moon
The story of this Ravello wedding resonated far beyond the Amalfi Coast. It was a joy to see it published by Over The Moon, where its couture fashion, cultural immersion, and heartfelt details were celebrated on a global stage. For me as a photographer, this feature is a reminder of what destination weddings in Italy can offer: timeless imagery, authentic joy, and the blending of heritage with design in a way that feels both intimate and iconic.
